### DESCRIPTION
A simple USB-powered Christmas-tree with polarized capacitor legs.
### TECHNICAL DETAILS / COMPONENTS
All LEDs and resistors are SMD1206 components. I added a rendered image without the snow so it's clear how LEDs are oriented. Green LEDs are placed near the edges and the corrensponding current limiting resistors are on the other side like a mirror image. Cool white LEDs are placed as ornaments in the inside and as snow near the ground. Their resistors are not exactly mirrored but close to the actual LEDs on the other side of the board. If you're using only one color then the placement doesn't matter, you will only use one resistor value anyway. Specific resistor values are up to you but I suggest using 27k resistors for green LEDs, 1k for the top red LED, and 10k for the cool white LEDs to maintain enjoyable brightness.
The polarized capacitor legs are 5mm in diameter with 2,54mm pitch through-hole parts. Voltage rating must be bigger than 10V. Length doesn't matter as long they support the board. You can use smaller capacitors if you can manage the support. Be careful to solder these with precision so the board stands upright. Funny enough only one is connected to stabilize the +5V rail.
The USB Mini-B connector is a standard SMD part with 2 plastic locating pins (hence the holes for them in the PCB).
### LEARN / TOPIC / BUILD INSTRUCTIONS
Always start with the smallest and flattest components and work your way up. You will need 70 LEDs (1 red LED, 40 green LEDs and 29 cool white LEDs), 70 resistors, 4 small polarized capacitors, 1 ceramic capacitor (SMD1206), 1 USB Mini-B SMD connector and 1 USB cable with Mini-B connector of course. Power banks are not recommended to use because the minimum current draw they require and this thing draws literally no current at all (a few milliamps maybe). Laptop USB-ports are fine as long as the operating system doesn't put them to sleep if not is use.
