col scan by 4017. need more currrent up use tr inverted signal use 4069
4069 also as clock generator replace ic 555. scheme not mine. try search on google

order pcb... buy parts... connect to matrix module led. vcc 5..9 volt... inject audio signal into lm3914. enjoy the show.
