Crafties! Police Lights
Basic Police/EMS/Caution lights based upon an Atmel tiny45 MCU with adjustable speed.
Step 1: Basics
The whole design is based around an easy to use system for makers who are not into electronics or AVR programming. This system will allow makers to incorporate electronic aspects into their personal projects be it a child's toy, holiday decoration or even art.
Step 2: Parts basics
The central component is an Atmel tiny45 MCU which has a basic program controlling the flashing LEDs. From that, we have a basic input power source handled by an MC78L05ACP +5V DC regulator and paired with 2 10mF bypass/decoupling capacitors allowing a source voltage up to 16VDC which can allow this to be incorporated into R/C systems, robotics or even powered children's toys such as "Powerwheels". The outputs are basic digital HIGH/LOW to 2 LEDs. The flashing speed is controlled via a 10k Bourns potentiometer. Power is controlled via an off board switch. The main board will be housed in a custom designed 3D printed ABS housing using my personal 3D printer which is an 8" Prusa. All items will be open sourced and I will sell completed units as well as solder kits with the 3D printed parts being offered in different colors and either plain printed or even acetone vapor smoothed.
